Heys y'all, sorry for the absence. I've just started my new term and hence, busy-ness! Cambridge is the same as it was before I left, minus the tourists (yay!). I'm now living in a proper house, which I'm sharing with 2 wardens (husband and wife) and 3 other girls (Abbey students). It's pretty exciting keeping house! :P
Here's something I wrote a while ago, which I thought I'd share with you - I don't write much at all, and you'll see why!
My mind keeps flashing back to the moment
You and I
Hold me close
Lips on lips
But you massacred
What little morsel of substance we had
No mercy
You couldn't wait
I couldn't give
And so you Abandoned
Just Fled, Ran, and left me here.
But I'll be fine
I'll gather what's left of my dignity
And pride
And I'll find it in me
To walk away
And never look back
Your face will not cross my mind
Your touch will not chill my spine
Not your blue eyes
Not your bright smile
You will not have the best of me.
Can you feel the emoness yet?

Jigsaw!
Su-Mei and I decided to do a jigsaw puzzle this holiday, so that we could frame it up and take turns keeping it! So we bought a pretty-looking one. Then, I started work and she had exams, so we got really busy and all we had was the 4 sides. However, we decided to get a move on last weekend and we completed the bridge. And since Su-Mei is on holiday now, we split the puzzle to do masing-masing. Now, I'm done with my part! (The blanks you can see is actually the cityscape and some trees - Su-Mei's part!!) I can't wait for her to come over so we can assemble the whole thing! :)
Oh and you can see a bit of my toes there but I can't be bothered to potong the picture so enjoy the view of my kaki! :P

So, I'm still undecided. Maybe mathematics :) Suggestions, anyone?
Oh yeah, and my results came out!
They missed something - a Merit for AEA Maths! And I almost didn't take the exam for fear of failing!
Wanna see how hard it is??
AEA Math Sample
One more thing: Go Liverpool! :) We may have only drawn last night, but at least we did not lose, unlike some people! :P

Results Day
I will be receiving my AS-level results via phone in approximately 4 & a 1/2 hours..
Anyway let's not think about that. It's nothing big.. It will only determine which university I apply to.. No sweat.. Lol yeah right.
I wanted to talk about my knitting adventures! I recently picked up knitting - half reading the knitting book I bought for my mum, half following my mum's instructions. I decided to start out with a scarf, as it would keep me warm during winter and it seemed simple enough. Wrong. I picked, of all things to start with, a cable-knit scarf. That meant that I have to work with 3 needles, and you have to remember that this is my first time knitting!!
Oddly enough, everything went well with my mum's help - even the cable pattern. It started looking like a cable scarf! That is, until one fine night, I started my knitting on the wrong side of the work. Crap. I didn't realise it until my mum took over, and she thought it looked funny. Ah well. I made the mistake after about an inch, and it was just a reverse-side thing, so we decided to leave the (now-wrong-side) initially correct bit as a border and to repeat the same thing on the other end. Sigh.
I had dinner with Yi Lin last night at Cipolla in Bangsar, in the Telawi area. Not bad Italian food.. We shared the Tropicale pizza - it had almost every imaginable topping on it. Yum! Caught up with her on lots of stuff too.. I just realised how long we hadn't really talked. After dinner, Lin's mum picked us up and we headed for her house, where her mum continued doing, guess what? She was knitting a bolero top! So we started our knit-talk (sorry Lin for excluding you on that - told you to pick up sticks!) and she showed me her amazing hoard of yarn. Pretttyyy.. <3
Then my dad came to pick me up :(
So anyways, I think I'm going out with Su-Mei, J and Charles this weekend! :) Looking forward to it very very much!! Meanwhile, I have to get through tomorrow and what's left of today. Sigh.
Wish me luck with my scarf!
Oh btw, this is a shoutout to my friend, Mr. Cheah who is in Cambridge right now! If you're reading this, which I doubt you are, just wanted to celebrate with you! Liverpool rocks!! :)

Monday Blues
#1. I have no idea what course to apply for university. My parents are suggesting (rather strongly, may I add) that I do actuarial science. I originally wanted to do manufacturing engineering, which soon turned into materials science due to, again, encouragement from my parents (no, they didn't force me!! *nose grows longer*). And now, I'm starting to think that maybe actuarial science isn't all that bad. I get to combine my love for maths with my equally strong interest in economics. Dream come true? Maybe not, seeing as how actuaries work mostly in the insurance industry *shiver*.

Furthermore, I have this rather unhealthy obsession with Cambridge. Having been there for half a year, I'm in love with the town, and I would like to stay there for the next 4 years or so. However, besides the obvious Cambridge University, there is only Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Eeks. I would like to rule out ARU (they do have an awesome library, though :P), but Cambridge is just too..... Cambridge. Aaargh..
#2. RESULTS ARE OUT IN 3 DAYS **** **** ****ETY ****!
#3. One of my best friends has left the country and I now have nothing to distract me from the shitty realities of life. Sigh.
I think I'll just go back to watching Gilmore Girls. All hail TV-LINKS!! :)

BCP
Yesterday, I followed an engineer to one of the Company's service providers to present a framework for a Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
The idea of a BCP is a set of processes that should be followed in the case of a business crisis i.e.: natural disasters, diseases, terrorism - the goal is to keep the business running no matter what happens. For example: If there is a flood, and you are running a warehouse, what is your BCP? Do you have an agreement with another warehouse in a safe area where you can move your operation? How do you plan to get your stuff out? What's your maximum outage time? All these and more are thought about when compiling a BCP. Amazing.
After the presentation, the Company's representative even suggested that the service provider recommend its own partners to obtain a BCP. THE WHOLE COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE A BCP!!
What's your BCP?

Demand Planning
How do manufacturers plan their production to meet consumers' demands? What trends do they follow? Income, price elasticity of demand, addiction, availability of substitutes - we have learnt in our Econs 101 that all of these affect demand. But how does all this come into consideration in the real world? There are issues of storage, whether the products are consumer-durables or non-durables, goodness knows what else.
So many things to learn, so little time.
Anyone out there who is as jobless as me and interested in manufacturing, here you go:
Capacity Planning Wiki
And if anyone else finds other informative websites like this, please let me know! :)
